I have had a couple of great questions and comments lately that I have answered in comments, but thought I would elaborate on the questions/comments here.
The question had to do with the dofollow blog backlink strategy and if it really works.
As I started writing this post, it got to be pretty long, so I will have divided it into two parts.
This is part #1.
Robert from The Silent Majority asked the question below.
“I have been aggresively pursuing the do follow philosophy. As of yet I have not seen much of a return on my time investment. As I am new at this I assume that I am doing something wrong, any suggestions.”
Sally of Fast Flat Sale was good enough to respond to Robert’s question below.
“Answer to Robert, I too have been commenting on do-follow websites for nearly a month now. I have built up over 1500 backlink in yahoo but only 4 backlinks in Google. I’m not sure why but I know it won’t be an overnight thing, it does take abit of time.”
First of all, Sally is doing the right thing by monitoring the number of backlinks that she is getting. She knows how many backlinks she is building by checking with Yahoo and Google. How would you know if your backlink strategy is working, or not, if you aren’t looking at backlink numbers periodically.
Sally also notes a big difference between the number of backlinks Yahoo reports and the number Google reports. I believe this is normal. It’s my understanding that Yahoo is a better gauge of actual backlinks, because Google does not want to give too much backlink info away.
So, my suggestion to Robert is to first find out how many backlinks you have from Yahoo. Go to http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ Input your blog into the top Explore URL box.
In the Results you will see the number of pages Yahoo has indexed, and Inlinks, the number of sites pointing back to your site.
Click on the Inlinks button, then I like to select “Except from This Domain” in the Show Inlinks Box, and “Entire Site” in the To box. This will give you the number of links Yahoo sees pointing to your site from all sites excluding links pointing to other pages on the same site.
When I do this to Robert’s site, I see he does have a good number of links pointing back to his site. So, it could be Robert is not seeing the results of the backlinks, in terms of visitors, that he is expecting.
Tomorrow, I will finish with part #2 of this discussion on whether the dofollow blog backlink strategy really works. I will detail what I suggest, to make sure you get the most out of your dofollow blog comments.

Hi Mike,
I too have been hitting up dofollow blogs for a while now in attempts to get backlinks, but I’m also hearing mixed reviews from the community about the effectiveness of this. For now I’m resorting to more organic traffic methods, but I’ll revisit the dofollow-blog method again soon, I’m sure.
Thanks for the great post.
Cheers,
Ben
ByMyDirtySmellyGymSocks.com… is that for real?!
Anyway, according to the two link builders in the post they have been “aggressively” commenting for “nearly a month now”.
One, I don’t think you should aggressively link build in this way – 10 links or less per week for ALL link building (not just blog comments) is the optimum.
And it takes longer than a month to see any change – I would give it at least six months. And, lets face, a successful SEO campaign takes years for it to fully come to fruition.
Just a note. The link to yahoo site explorer in the post is actually linking to fast flat sale instead.
I too have been hitting up dofollow blogs.
thanks for post.
DoFollow blogs seem to be hit and miss when it comes to effectiveness.
I do have a blog on wordpress, where in I keep track of the referrer all the time. Its been since recently that I’ve been commenting on the dofollow blogs. I still have to see a hike in number of visitors.
For me dofollow blogging are working fine.
well, they seem to be working for me too – I just hate feeling that I may be spinning my wheels.
dofollow is working..
Is there any tool to make blogger comment section Do follow ? Many of my blog reader are seeking for that
I’ve been building links to my site, but when I use a backlink checker tool it doesn’t seem to pick up all of the links I have been building.
I’m still not sure why this is, I thought that perhaps it only registers the links if someone click on them?
Thanks for the post anyway
I think in the end all of these links will help, but I agree that it should be done gradually. Too much of a good thing can be harmful. Thanks for all of your information.
dofollow links do take some time especially with google they only choose what they want lol hope this helps.
Thanks for the post but after posting to the do follow blogs i am unable to get comments approved can you please help me out about the problem…
Thanks for sharing the site explorer link, one way of beating your competitor is to search for their sites back link then make sure to have back links from these sites too.
I can see why a lot of people will always use dofollows.First it a guick way to get backlinks but also a great way to create awareness through your comment. For me dofollow blogging are working fine but will advice to take it gradual and post on relevant sites too.
Do follow blogs are great but I also take time to post comment to no follow blogs specially when the content interest me:-)
Nowadays many people are using dofollow so that they get more comments.
This was a great article, but it gave me another question that i wonder if you could answer.
Google awards a considerably less amount of backlinks, you mentioned that google doesn’t want to just give these links away. Is there something that we could to do make our links more valuable to google?
-caroline
I agree you need to check stats from time to time. If you forget to do that you might not even realise that you’ve just wasted the last month.
Yeah they really work. But at some point the backlink support decreases in high PR .As you go up in rank you need good content also.
Yahoo is exploring the backlinks in a better way than Google do, yet if someone is looking for PageRank, it’s Google so basicly if google didn’t recognize those links, this is not okay for backlink, or what?
[...] part one of dofollow backlink strategy, Robert was questioning whether his dofollow blog backlink strategy was working. By looking at [...]
I invite you to use and review my Dofollow tracking system. Everything is self contained, you type a keyword or keywords and it presents you with the latest posts. You read, comment and it then tracks the post to make sure you get a dofollow link, if not it kicks that blog out of the system. It even gives you stats link how many dofollow links you’ve received and from who and is free.
Really cool that you made it that huge amount of BL. I stop using EC for several months already and I don’t know that you can make backlinks that simple. I will try it again!
Its been since recently that I’ve been commenting on the dofollow blogs.
Unfortunately doffolow links take time to register with google so it’s not like you can just do all the work in a week and then forget about it. It needs constant supervision.
where is do follow backlink list bro??
Well, being a dofollow blog owner I have to admit that this type of blogs always receives tons of spammers comments. However, I think that both blog owners and commentators should benefit from the comment. Blog owners get quality comments, commentators get quality backlinks.
Several years ago, SEO experts got close to fully interpreting the Google ranking algorithm through the backlinks that SERPs returned, so Google went to only showing a sample. Yahoo and Alltheweb are far better indicators of banklink counts.
im watching it..
Thank you so much for this dofollow post, Can you give me more of dofollow blogs? Thank you… More Power
dofollow comment link == spam
I like dofollow blogs and it work for me, it is today’s market demand, thanks for nice post about dofollow blogs
Great work …. Thanks for your ideas.
more helpful for us and anyone who needs information
thanks from Nakliyat
thanks for your articles
I’ve been on a campaign as of late to find high quality dofollow blogs so that I can promote my own site by giving high quality comments.
As a test I made one of my sites nofollow and one dofollow. my DoFollow blog ranks higher and gets mire high quality comments than the other one.
thanks for your ideas
Hi,It is one of the most informative post i ever see before. To post comments on do fallow blogs its obvious that you will take benefit from this. Thanks for sharing such a nice post I glad to read this. Thanks again..
I too have been commenting on do-follow websites for nearly a month now. I have built up over 1500 backlink in yahoo but only 4 backlinks in Google.
The whole concept is bizarre.
You rarely see the results in Google but they but you get the ranking in Google. I have hit the first and second pages of Google for competitive keywords but see no results in Google as regards to backlinks are concerned. But what does that matter? results in!
dofollow links do take some time especially with google they only choose what they want lol hope this helps.
It seems to me that aggressively posting on do follow blogs can work, but often isn’t the miracle people are hoping for. Traffic can only come with links, and TIME.
dofollow its very helpful because google only choose that blogs what they want. Thanks
Great article and yahoo siteexplorer is a good suggestion. Backlink building must to be a gradual & natural process, if you build for ex. 2000 backlinks/month, all using the same keywords, then google will think this is spam and your site will be penalized. Try to get backlinks from blogs with content related with your site, you don’t need links to a site about flowers from a site about cars. The quality of backlinks can make the difference. Just 1 month is a little time to see the results, this is a complex process and the results will appear after a little long time, but this will give you long term benefits.
I constantly check on my inlinks at yahoo and yeah it helped me realize how my commenting is helping me with my link building campaign. Just one question, why is yahoo showing the first 1000 links only? where can i see my next 1000 links?
thank you. Hoping to get answer from anyone here.
I think yahoo do calculate all link going back to your site. I also think even the blogs or forums that have rel=nofollow attributes.
I also I agree that google only show a few backlinks.
Google only shows a portion of your total backlinks correct? I think you get a much better idea from webmasters tools! But personally I love the Yahoo site explorer.
I have started using doFollow blogs to gain links. It’s been working great. My only issue is, it is hard to find high PR doFollow sites.
I was thinking of setting up a dofollow blog to help out the community, do you guys have any suggestions on topic’s? I do not want to go broad and just do “Business” or “Money” or “Finance” It would be nice to have a blog for a niche to help out others. Send me some idea’s and I’ll start a blog(s) up that are doFollow.
Some of them using automated software to fill comments sometimes it may be irrelevant post ,it will affect who really involved in that .
Yes, DoFollow strategy will work…but one should know how to do it…because it will work properly and will result in no. of backlinks…but one thing should also keep in mind that Google will accept only natural link juice on your site or on your blog….so do it by keeping this thing in mind.
It works good if you find post reltaed to topic of your site and they have page rank. If you find ones with page rank on the post with same topic it does start to improve your sites rank.
Yahoo site explorer really did a great job to monitor your competitors backlinks. I’ve been using it for so long and found really effective. I’m glad that many bloggers are using a DoFollow movement.
I think do follows blogs work, Google pays alot of attention to blogs and social media.
DoFollow blogs is the best source of serving the site with the link juice….commenting relevantly on DoFollow will result in increase traffic too….so according to me yes the Backlink strategy is working…..
I have been doing this for a long time now I have seen some good results getting up the google ranking. And thanks to all those supporting the dofollow blogs.
Dofollow blog commenting do work, but you need to complement the whole strategy with support from other methods
However the policing aspect gets so tiring when a lot of spam and junk appears and it is so annoying.
Yes backlinks have to be quality, no spammy comments on forums or blogs or you are just wasting your time and energy.
Graham Gallagher.
Often times it is quality over quantity concerning back links. They are both important, but overall content is still king.
dofollow blogs are essential for any webmaster who takes his google rankings seriously.
Do Follow backlink strategy always work when you will do it properly…..as it can be dome in several ways but should be done properly to have the backlinks to your site which in turn gives you the search engine trust….
Do follows blogs are great. They’re rvolutionising the web.
It’s a good idea to check to make sure the page you are commenting actually gets into Google cache within the last 3 weeks. Just type the web page URL into Google. It will show the page indexing and cache date. If it is linger than 3 weeks, don’t bother commenting.
Google take a long time to index the backlinks. I am not sure if will really help with pagerank.
Hi,
Do follow blogs are always very useful for blog commenting.
You can get inbound links for your website and later converted to back links.
Thanks.
Hi,
I am always prefer the dofollow blogs for blog commenting.I got so many links from this.
I never experienced that page rank get diluted due to do follow blogs.
Thanks.
i think yes !! you have such a good ideas, nice informations, thank you for sharing – free hollywood movies
The whole concept is bizarre.
You rarely see the results in Google but they but you get the ranking in Google. I have hit the first and second pages of Google for competitive keywords but see no results in Google as regards to backlinks are concerned. But what does that matter? results in!
Blog owners can make their blogs a do follow and no follow any time. I agree with you actually I take time to read post and comment not just to do follow blogs but also to no follow. I can somehow say that both drive traffic in my site:-)
I’ve noticed that link to yahoo site explorer in the post are actually linking to fast rather than others.
I used do follow blog comments with a mix of directories and social book marks and went from a brand new site to pr2 in 2 months. I think it works and I only got back links from relevant blogs.
I have tried this also. I like to leave good comments so I add value to the blogs. I hate spam. It is hard to find the nofollow blogs, not to mention relevant ones as well.
Yes,all of my sites are top 10 in google. You are helping me as well(with this dofollow comments)- so 1 big THANKS!
Very good article. Google is the worst as far as monitoring how many backlinks you currently have because not only do they not report 90% of them but it takes them till the next update to report any at all. Yahoo is the best as it takes just 4 to 6 days usually to report backlinks.
Dofollow blogs and blog commenting usually works. But of course these things needs other methods that can support them. Also, it should complement each other.
Nice article! There are some site which are bad in terms of monitoring these blacklinks which aren’t accurate enough to state the errors. But there are sites which are good at doing this as well.
Thanks for the post, I think that the main good point of using dofollow on your blog, is getting on the lists that people spread of these blogs.
If you post content that is relevant in any country and to most audience then u will gain a lot of traffic.
Both parts of this article are very good. Backlinking is a very tricky proposition for most any Webmasters. The rule of thumb that I always use when it comes to anything SEO related is to use common sense. Back in the day of Infoseek and Alta Vista, you didn’t have to use any sense at all, just be able to crunch numbers. Search is getting better because search engines are better understanding how people use them. If a search technique doesn’t make good common sense, don’t use it. That goes for backlinking too.
It takes time, it took me about a month and a half to see noticeable traffic difference.
I don’t know for sure about the useful of do follow blog list to build backlinks. I have did this for several months but my site ranking not in the first page yet. Is there any one could give me some explanation ?

I put a dofollow attribute on all of my blogs but as you said, the amount of spam comments this generates is huge. I don’t mind moderating them though, cause I’m not lazy. ha haha…..:)
As Google continues to refine their algorithm to discount spammy links and moves toward semantic search, and considering that most blogs have a low pagerank, I don’t foresee the benefit of do follow links continuing much longer. I also think this will contribute to Google losing relevance as eventually the only search results you will get are for mega conglomerate organizations that have been around forever.
I feel that Commenting on a Do follow blog is an Average type of Link building … as the Number of Comments Shoot up leading to Negligible pagerank available… Anyway Google may still consider it.

Thank you for taking time to consider the questions. So far I don’t have problems with my do follow links. I believe the do follow link strategy does really work. It increases the traffic to my site. what are the other strategies to increase traffic?
“The question had to do with the dofollow blog backlink strategy and if it really works.”
It’s true. Most users are not aware that they have quite a good number of links leading back to their sites when they use the dofollow tags. Though others may doubt its effectiveness, some take advantage of getting their competitors’ back links.
I’ve created several backlinks for my website by commenting on some keyword lux blogs,so I think the dofollow backlink strategy is still working somewhere.
yup
do follow is working good Google works good for blogs do follow blogs is best source to increase traffic and pr.
It takes time, it took me about a month and a half to see noticeable traffic difference.
Dofollow is fantastic – a great way to show respect to your readers and to encourage a bit of debate…sometimes people need a bit of a push/incentive to do so! I’m sure you’ll have seen traffic increase significantly though as a result, at least I hope so!
Your backlink strategy is helpful. Don’t you think there are other more effective backlink strategies out there?
I’m looking for a tutorial with examples of do follow blog comments and how they are and how effective they are. Your site is the first one I’ve found that shows how to see if you are being successful. That yahoo link was great for someone like me just starting into this area of marketing.
Thanks for the informative post!
Dofollow blog commenting works when your keyword is related to topic of blog.
dofollow? nofollow? I don’t even check before I post a comment. Google never shows a very big amount of my links either
Commenting in dofollow blogs significantly increases the amount of backlinks to a site. That can be easily found through the yahoo site explorer that you explained. But is there any way to check backlinks with Google.
Just keep commenting away, relevant comments as well. It will slowly grow and in the beginning its slow but now i almost get 30 links everyday without doing anything. It just happens on its own.
It takes time, it took me about a month and a half to see noticeable traffic difference.
HI, I think Dofollow back link strategy is somehow working, yes it is working, and I definitely prepared to use this strategy., I will continue using this back link because it is good and working..
I’m another commentor following the do-follow system, but to be honest I’ve only just started out and so I’ve yet to see any change in my backlinks. Like with any SEO, you have to have oodles of patience..
I’ve been a blogger for the last 4 years. I retired about 2 years ago…deleted my blog (big mistake). I’ve only been blogging for about 2 months this time around. So it’s hard to say. I visit lots of blogs. I don’t pay much attention to whether they’re dofollow or nofollow. If I like the content, I try to always leave a comment. Isn’t that what blogging’s all about?
Indeed, the keyword luv plug in do entice commenters into writing more relevant comments on do follow blogs if only because they are assured of high quality link because of this plug in.
do follow is the fantastic plug in to add to your blog because it gives a back link as a reward to the commenters.
yes this plug in do entice commenters into writing more relevant comments on blogs if only because they are assured of high quality link because of this plug in.
Hey this one is nice article. Yes my dofollow blog commenting strategy is greatly help me. I have gain my blog PR3 and my only backlink building strategy was commenting on dofollow blog.
I think what people are getting wrong is the “do follow” bit. There are hundreds of blogs that say they do follow when they really don’t.
Find a good plugin or tool to find your DF blogs.
I’m still confused about the whole dofollow scenario. I think I will write it all out one day into a diagram to get my head around it.
i think Dofollow is fantastic – a great way to show respect to your readers and to encourage a bit of debate…sometimes people need a bit of a push/incentive to do so! I’m sure you’ll have seen traffic increase significantly though as a result, at least I hope so!
Nice research you have there.
This is one of the important element in SEO and never underestimate the power of do-follow link.
Build them up slowly and you will get a nice flow of traffic to your site.
Thanks for this great information. I just did this on yahoo site explorer, so far I have 604 I really need to work on this more often.
It can be a big help to go through archives of a dofollow blog and if you have a toolbar, check the pagerank of some of the older posts and comment on those. As soon as a new post leaves the home page then it usually takes time (sometimes never) for the post to get any pagerank. By sticking to good comments on articles that already have some, you can get much better results.
i never thought there is a yahoo explorer that can check links. should try this now. thanks for the tips.
yes I believe it is working for me. I like where i am in google’s eyes, and hope to stay there.
Very good article. Google is the worst as far as monitoring how some backlinks you currently have because not only do they not report 90% of them but it takes them till the next update to report any at all. Yahoo is the prizewinning as it takes just 4 to 6 days commonly to report backlinks.

Look and just wait. Do follow back links give 90% effort to your site for increasing visibility in Google’s page and in 1 month you can get double the link popularity. So for,it take a little bit time but the result you find excellent.
Nice research you have there.

Great post! Always wondered why google does not show all my backlinks. I’ll definitely use the backlink checker for Yahoo.
Fab. Thanks for sharing!
We should thank you for giving such a wonderful blog. Your site happens to be not only informative but also very imaginative too. We find a limited number of experts who can think to write technical articles that creatively. All of us are on the lookout for information on something like this. I Myself have gone through several blogs to build up on knowledge about this.We look forward to the next posts !!
That’s really a nice and interesting post,
nd is also very useful for all those who are working on do-follow blogs.
You talk about being a dofollow blog and you encourage keywords in the name field, but yet this is really a nofollow blog. Can you explain please.
Joseph
I just did this on yahoo site explorer, so far I have 604 I really need to work on this more often.
I understood link building 3 years ago and have been submitting my website to directories. What a waist of time that was. 3 – 4 years ago there were a lot more do follow blogs and a lot of auto approve blogs. I am getting mixed results on commenting on do follow blogs. Maybe some people are just not considering that it take time.
Yes it works, i have got lot of success working in dofollow links. Do follow blogs helps in developing rank of websites quickly.
Building dofollow links is a great way of promoting a site, however, mixing up links with nofollow attribute and the ones without nofollow attribute is the key to make link profile looks natural.
where is do follow backlink list bro??
I think that both blog owners and commentators should benefit from the comment. Blog owners get quality comments, commentators get quality backlinks.
I would give it at least six months. And, lets face, a successful SEO campaign takes years for it to fully come to fruition.
I’ve just begun to actively create backlinks to my website…and Imust say I am still a little confused.
That said…
It would seem to me that links are links. Just because Google isn’t “reporting” them doesn’t mean that the site isn’t getting credit for them.
These back linking strategies definetely work. I have a brand new site that is sitting at Google’s 21 spot just because of backlinks!!
It just takes some time, focus and a little bit of fun sprinkled in.
Do-follow backlinks are essential in any SEO strategy but you have to mix them with a fair number of no-folow links so it seems more natural in the eyes of the SE’s
I have only recently begun a solid do follow blog commenting strategy. I started the do follow blog commenting about 2 weeks ago and within that time I went from the 6th page in google to the 2nd page for the keyword i am targeting in my do follow strategy. The only thing that worries me is that this sort of thing is bound to not last very long, and needs to be mixed in with a well rounded seo strategy.
I have only recently implemented a do follow blog commenting strategy and have noticed some great upward movement in the ranking for the keyword i am targeting. I do my best to find related blogs but the do follow blogs seem too few and far between.
I have recently started my backlink campaign, but after getting 50 backlinks from social networking sites my website took a dive from second page on google to about 20th! Have I overcooked it?
I find that do follow blog commenting DOES help you’re SERPS, however, you really need to mix up the type of links coming to your site.
Have a business? Submit to business directories, post on forums, find niche related sites and get your links on there as well!
