- What exactly is a Website Rotator Script?
This is a post that I should have written some time ago. I appreciate those who have added their dofollow blogs and have made the FollowList Dofollow Blog Directory a success.
I want to make sure that those who have added their blogs to get the most out of their listing.
I also want to take a moment to ask those who are adding their nofollow blogs to the list to please stop. I am working on processes to identify and remove nofollow blogs, so may as well not waste your time adding them.
Too many blog owners are adding their blogs, without taking advantage of the blog directory name and description. Following is a screen shot of the fields to complete when adding your blog.
Dofollow Blog Directory
Blog Name
The Blog Name is for your use, and is not seen in the directory listing. It is used to help you identify your blogs. By the way, you are allowed to have multiple dofollow blogs on the same Followlist account.
Blog Description
The Blog Description is the short description of your blog that will be the title of your blog listing. It is best to use your main keyword for the blog description. I see too many people not taking advantage of this field.
This will be the hyperlinked text to your blog, and is a dofollow link. Choose your blog description wisely.
Blog URL
The Blog URL is self explanatory.
Short URL
A Short URL is assigned to your listing by default. However, you can also define your own URL name, as long as the name is not already in use.
Dofollow Blog Category
Please place your blog in the proper Category, so those looking for blogs in your niche can find your blog. The first category, Advertising, has several blogs in it that are not related to advertising.
Since it’s the first category and selected by default, I guess it’s easiest to just leave it a Advertising. If your blog is not in the proper category, you are loosing visitors because they can’t find your blog.
In the future, I will make Misc the default category.
Blog Long Description
Blog Long Description should be used to give a 2-5 sentence description about what your blog is about. You can leave this blank, but you shouldn’t.
New blogs and popular blogs are listed on the Followlist.com home page, but those with no long description are not listed. This can be a PR3 Dofollow link for you if you fill out a good description.
In the future, I will probably tie a category selection, and a blog long description minimum length, to obtain a front page listing, rewarding those who take a few minutes to create a good listing.
Hopefully, this will help you get the most out of your dofollow blog listing.

Its a good thing to have people who are still trying to build do follow pages that will help new blogs or sites gain backlinks. I hope everyone will follow the rules and stop adding no follow blogs on the list.
I think it is a great initiative to support the dofollow movement. From my opinion, the model with needing to build links in order to rank high is flawed from the very beginning.
The search engines should judge the content by the content not by how many people think the content is ok.

directories dont help a lot, because you have to put a lot of info on it and then you are not sure weather u’ll get approved or not, i’ll stick to blog commenting, they are fun as you join many good conversations with people who are helpfull

Dofollow links are very important in SEO. Google does not record links from nofollow sites. Yes, there are several directories and lists of blogs but as you said, most are not updated, and you are correct.. There are other people who maintain pretty good lists for small amount. I am much concern with your directory.

Followlist.com is a fantastic resource! I really appreciate it. Unfortunately about 1/2 the blogs listed seem to be nofollow so you still have to sieve through these.

Hi, thanks for teh great resource. Dofollow movement is great, however I’m pissed by spammers that abuse it and leave irrelevant and useless comments. Look at several of the comments above, I make a poitn of not commenting unless I actually have something to add to the conversation.
It must be an insurmountable task to handle the volume of blogs you receive. I’ve noticed too, lately, many of the blogs recently entered are actually nofollow. I haven’t notice yet, but is there a way to report them to you to make it easier for you to remove them?

Great list I’ve been going though and commenting to quite a number of sites. I’ve found a few expired ones and adult sites here though.

I am sorry about those adult sites. All of them (over 20) were put up by one idiot. I deleted them all, deleted the user and hopefully they will never come back.
I need to add a “report bad site” link so people can let me know about adult sites, nofollow blogs, dead sites etc. as they come across them.

This is an area that I have not explored very well and your information on DoFollow blogs is very useful. I will be research this area more. Placing keyword into the the comment title is a great idea since we all do this for our article titles etc. Also, Is it better to determine the number of backlinks through Google or Yahoo? It seem to get better results with Yahoo.

I think the number of comments a blog gets is a significant part of Google’s ranking of the blog. It all comes down to activity. The more activity the blog creates the better ranking.

normally people like to keep their blogs no-follow because they are afraid of spammers. I find that it doesn’t make a difference though – mine get spammed even if they are no-follow. Plus I think it’s nice to reward contributors who take the time to read and made a comment that actually contributes something. It is ok for people to come because it’s do-follow as long as they don’t abuse the situation and make irrelevant comments.
Yes. There’s a certain code we all need to follow when we’re commenting on other’s blogs.
For example,if the blog owner does not appear to tolerate anchor text in the name field, then there’s a good chance they will just delete it as spam and you just wasted your time.
A good way to determine this is to check to see if the other commenter’s have left any keyword anchor text comments.
Or simply look for the keyword luv plugin that is available on blogs such as this one.
this is really good to know but the think is that a commenter shall be up to date and should leave the comment which is regarding the post but unfortunately there are many other who just comment to advertise their blog. i actually love to read the post and comment accordingly as it gets into many useful conversations which actually helps alot

Actually I’m not sure how these are linked together, but after I registered my oes tsetnoc blog on ComLuv, I saw that my Comment Luv links on other sites were still going to a http://feedproxy.google.com URL, which I thought only happened if you were using an unregistered blog.
