BloggingInAction - Make Money Blogging

I have noticed the crap comments on my blog going up recently.  It seems that commenting on dofollow blogs has become a popular link building strategy.

The problem is people are hiring out their blog commenting, or using automated tools to post generic comments that don’t relate to the blog post, or add any value to the blog posts.

This has caused me to question whether I should continue to keep this blog dofollow.  Since this blog is all about dofollow, it would make sense to keep the comments dofollow.

But, there may come a point in time, and it may be soon, that I will have to go nofollow due to the time it takes to monitor and delete crappy comments.

Recently, one of my favorite blogs, Untwisted Vortex, went from dofollow back to nofollow due to people leaving garbage for comments.

I absolutely understand why he needed to do that, and I’m afraid more dofollow blog owners will go back to nofollow because they are starting to get more bad comments than good comments.

For now, I will leave this blog as a dofollow on comments.  But, I will no longer automatically post comments and then come back and delete those comments that are bad.  I will now leave comments in moderation and only publish those that are quality comments.

This may lead to a few day delay in approving good comments since I moderate comments about every other day.

If you are using commenting on blogs as a link building strategy, I will say it again – Please respect the blog owner and leave good, quality comments.  Good comments will also help you improve the chances of someone visiting your site.

Mike

Are you running Akismet? That kills the most obvious spam on my sites.

  2. bk&adultdiscountdiapers on May 27th, 2009 5:34 pm

I have several blogs and I get just as much spam with the no follow as with the do follow.
However, on the do follow I get some uber retarded comments like: “very nice of you to write about maken teh moniez, it is my dream to be ur long poopil. :)
    Idiots!!

The no follow still attracts way more good comments than otherwise though. Its a balance

We have just added the dofollow pluin from word press to our blog. We have not noticed an increase in spam and even if we do, we can just delete it. It would seem to me that the benefit of discussion far outweights the inconvenience of having to delete the comments left by spammers taking advantage of the system. Maybe as time goes on, my thinking will change but for now, it seems like a good idea.

Remain do follow dude. Just put a spam blocker. Or you can always do confirmation before it will be seen.

  5. Keesjan from SEO bureau on May 28th, 2009 7:24 am

Hi, if spam is the problem why not install a anti robot captcha? This prevents robot comments. The Akismet tool also works fantastic.

  6. bk from discount adult diapers on May 28th, 2009 5:24 pm

Askimet + The 1+3 = 4 Captska works good. You still have to fend of the paid Indians but some of their comments are hilarious. And If I can I will dickroll them.

btw, its time to upgrade your server, I aged 2 fkin years waiting on your page to load.

I like the one that asks what this adds up to not captcha. Sometimes you can not read the letters or image has problems.

  8. Bill from Bulk IDN / punycode converter on May 29th, 2009 5:59 am

My take on this is that spam BOTS generally do not perform any filtering or logic (it is much easier to just send off that request to the best of their ability and move on to the next target in the list), so do-follow or no-follow wouldn’t affect them.

I know you hinted towards outsourced people but the comment discussion seems to be about bots so far.

About that, maybe we should fight fire with fire and set up outsource companies whose only mission it is to moderate comments for slave wages. :)

I understand the situation, i always thought putting this plugin on your weblog was a huge increase of spam. On the otherhand, it made more “normal” people read your blog as well so i think there should be other ways to avoid comment spam. good luck with it!

  12. miyaka from contemporary furniture on May 29th, 2009 8:21 pm

I agree to sam, I just did that to my blog and it really shutdown my traffic(just a little). Just stay on do follow. BTW, I was reading an article that mentioned a word of caution in using CAPTCHAs all the time and said to use an akismet scanner in its place. What is that?

I’m new blogger here. I need to know how you can tell that a blog is dofollow or nofollow?

  19. AndyW on May 31st, 2009 6:01 pm

My advice is not to use KeywordLuv – it’s like a lamp for spam moths.

Once you have uninstalled that insist on not allowing keywords for a name, and then just delete the comments where people ignore that rule.

Your right, it would be silly writing about dofollow and having a nofollow blog!

  20. Thomas Paylor on June 1st, 2009 5:46 am

Dofollow is so painful for blog writers. I know that. In contrast, I guess Dofollow brings more traffic to your blog. So, it’s up to you to weight the pros and cons.

One effective way to prevent scam comments from auto-robot program is to enable captcha.

  21. kim from dental products on June 1st, 2009 9:15 am

Getting a high traffic is one of the advantages of having a DoFollow blogs so I guess that’s a great opportunity. I know its hard to detect a legitimate comments from a spammer but Akismet and Captcha did a great job to filter spammers besides you can do the moderation.

  22. Snv from Best SEO Services on June 1st, 2009 9:51 am

I think….It is not a great deal to make your blog No Follow….it is important to have WordPress Plug-Ins which will put all the spam comments to the Filter…..and also If some one is commenting without any relevancy to the topic….and doing it just to have backlinks then automatically they caught by the spam filters…..and become No Follow….

  23. Kotlina Klodzka on June 1st, 2009 12:40 pm

Generic comments are pretty easy to spot and delete. Remember that dofollow comments draw in a lot more readers. And whether they’re here to read your posts or just to get a backling it doesn’t matter. They’re reading your stuff and clicking your ads.

  24. Marcy from Wedding Favors on June 1st, 2009 5:41 pm

I also have a do follow blog but to lessen spam comments I added Akismet plugin. It is quite tiring to moderate but this is the least you could do to keep your blog attracting traffic. Actually comments keep your blog and posts alive. Do you think if you will shift to no-follow people will still visit your blog and read your posts? Most probably some will still follow your posts to read on quality articles but definitely it will decrease.

  25. snv from SEO Services on June 2nd, 2009 4:05 am

I think having Plug-Ins like Akismet can be beneficial to get rid of those spam comments.
it is not necessary to have No Follow blogs…because it Do Follow blogs are valuable to commentators as well as for the website also….as it provides commentators with something they are looking for…

I think reward for comment is always good. As we know every internet giant company first offer reward for using their network including google. For that you can check wayback machine in early time of google, google give reward when people search on google.

    Thanks.

  30. Anita from Odchudzanie Poznan on June 4th, 2009 10:09 am

While I agree where you’re coming from, the sad truth is that if you make all the comment links nofollow, you’ll get much less comments. Obvious, I know. Thing is, you’ll lose more than those spammy comments, which might still be appearing after that anyway, since you’re apparently in some spammers database …
Use spam filters and stay dofollow, that’s my advice.

Hi, I agree with you. Those who comments must do it relevantly. Making a blog dofollow or nofollow is a choice with its own ups and downs. I just hope that you have enough time to filter comments.

  33. Brian from Surefire Trading Challenge on June 5th, 2009 2:15 pm

Your always going to have spammers, there is just no way around it unfortunately. And I believe having a dofollow blog brings more traffic and you do get some of the unique content you wouldn’t get from that free traffic if you went no follow. I guess you need to make the decision if you take the good with the bad or if you go no follow to thwart all spammers and risk losing some of your free traffic and content. Just my 2 cents

  34. Robert from Ebook Blog on June 5th, 2009 10:02 pm

I think moderation and Akismet can help you to fight against spam. Dofollow backlinks must to be a reward for those people who add value to your posts with their comments. When I post a comm to a blog, I usually check if this blog is dofollow looking in source page, because I have seen a lots of blogs that are using KeywordLuv, but they are nofollow.

  35. Boris from Niche Phoenix SEO on June 6th, 2009 6:11 pm

We were the creator of the Do Follow List of Lists which have been removed from our site due to abusive behavior by many.

There are solutions to stop bot comment spam a good choice is the Bad Behavior plugin. We were getting 200 spam comments a day or more. Now it is maybe 10 or so.

There is little that you can do for the paid comment spammer other than moderate your blog. We require a 20 word comment for a link these days. While that doesn’t stop comment spam, it does encourage other to leave better comments.

  36. Wang from Trading Forex on June 7th, 2009 11:35 am

I agree with Robert moderation and askimet help a lot against spammer, but i also suggest using CAPTCHA, because with moderation only even with askimet sometime you have to moderate more than 100 spammers a day. it just doesn’t worth the time you spend to deal with those spammer

  37. Dan from Blog about everything on June 7th, 2009 4:59 pm

I think it would be unwise to go to no follow considering your blog is about the do follow movement. Your site is an authority for the do follow community and if you have to resort to going to no follow then I don’t see the reason anyone should have a do follow blog.

I have several do follow blogs and I knew comment spam would be a problem, you can only expect that but with askimet and the small amount of spam askimet lets by it is fairly easy to moderate.

Don’t let the spammers win and ruin it for everybody. Keep up the good work.

  40. Tom from Herbal Fiberblend on June 12th, 2009 12:28 pm

Please remain do-follow if you can, I think its important not to let the spammers win – its nice to give people a pat on the back for writing a decent comment that is related to your post and adds something to the discussion. I have do-follow blogs though so I understand the fustration with moderation useless comments

I use the same set-up as you on my blog, do-follow + keyword luv. For me it is a way to give something back to my readers/ commenters, yes it is a lot of work to moderate all the comments but I think it is well worth the effort. I call the big no-follow sites like twitter and wikipedia graveyards because they only want to take link juice, but don’t want to give, becoming so a graveyard for bots and spiders ;-( BTW, I am also using a plugin that allows commenters to subscribe to specific posts and their follow up comments. I think it encourages people to come back to our blogs ;-) SY

  43. James from Low carbs on June 15th, 2009 1:45 pm

You’ll always get spammers but please try not to let them win – I think the dofollow movement is great and if done correctly provides benefits to the site owner and person writing the comment. Its such a shame a minority spoil it for others (I sound like my mum!)

  44. Simo from Rocket Spanish Premium on June 16th, 2009 11:43 pm

What I don’t get about spammers is that 90% of their effort in leaving spammy comments is wasted – their comments simply don’t get approved. Why wouldn’t they just do the right thing for everyone (and probably the best thing for themselves) and leave quality comments?

  46. Carl on June 17th, 2009 8:39 pm

Moderation is pretty much the only weapon any of us have on doFollow blogs. I love doFollow because it provides a service to the reader, but spammers can get out of control.

  47. pfisterfarm from Gaming Fun for the Whole Family on June 21st, 2009 5:43 am

Curious… has much been written on the amount of comment spam nofollow blogs get? On my blog, I was dealing with comment spam before I knew what nofollow was, and now that I’ve turned it off, the comment spam doesn’t seem to have increase any (not yet anyway). It’s not really that much anyway, not hard to deal with (thank you, moderation and Akismet)

  48. Dan Kooper from panic attack help on June 21st, 2009 8:07 am

Well considering your blog is focused around the do-follow blog movement, it would be quite hypocritical to turn your comments no-follow.

I agree with you though, some people really try and take advantage of it.

What you can do is not approve any comments that look like the person never even fully read your post.

  49. omar from seo blogs on June 21st, 2009 10:55 pm

As others have mentioned, I don’t see why you would move back to nofollow.

After all, you can filter out any comment you find inappropriate… I have just switched my blog to dofollow because it makes sense to me to reward people who add value to my blog.

Spam comments, or links to crappy websites? I just won’t let the comment pass through! No problemo.

    Regards

  50. Steve from Whitestrips Coupons on June 24th, 2009 12:09 am

I battled with this do follow issue as well. I run a few blogs and the do follow one does get a lot of crap comments not even related to the topic I’m writing about.

I just moderate heavily and use akismet (over 17,000 spam comments so far, crazy)

The way I look at is that more comments = more content and that is always a good thing.

  51. Biodun from Web Hosting Blogs on June 26th, 2009 8:58 pm

DoFollow blogs are loved by lifeless spam bots. This can be a very irritating aspect of making your blog DoFollow because even though you are trying to reward your commentators, but its a good way to increase traffic to a blog as many bloggers or site owners to leave comments on your blog in an effort to earn some extra back-links. If a blog is made DoFollow, its really a marketing point!

  52. Mike from Affiliate Marketing Plan on June 27th, 2009 10:52 pm

It’s too bad that blog owner had to go back to nofollow due to crappy comments.

A few (or perhaps many in this case) idiots who could not take the time to read the blog post and make good comments have hurt the rest of us who do make good comments.

I always try to leave good relevant comments. It doesn’t take that much time and I don’t want to waste my time by writing some short junky comments that will probably get deleted.

Plus, and this is a big plus, if you leave good comments you have a better chance of someone visiting your blog.

    Please keep dofollowin!

    Mike

Even though link building is one of the reasons for my commenting even I am annoyed by the stupidity of some comments. I like to think comments like ‘nice tips, helped a lot’ appear everywhere not only because of hurry but also because these people don’t know any more English than that. But I might be wrong. I think you should remain dofollow and explore the possibilities of fighting these comments. Than you can share it with the rest of dofollow community :) .

Untwisted Vortex is one of my fave blogs as well. He’s a retired Marine who lives in the Philippines. Great blog on living overseas, culture, and everyday living.

As for your blog going NO FOLLOW, just turn on Akismet and manually approve the comments. My blog is DO FOLLOW and its not being crushed by spam. Make sure to approve only comments that actually ADD to the conversation.

I think DO FOLLOW blogs are WIN/WIN if handled properly–you get original content, the commenter gets a link.

It is frustrating to see blind comments that have nothing to do with your post. You spend time thinking about the topics to discuss and what you’ll get are random messages by people who are obviously spamming. What do they get from it? Is it really an effective link building strategy? With a crappy message, how will it ever work? Just use a spamblocker.

If a blog is a dofollow site, many visitors wants to post their links because they know that they can have a valid backlink from your site however, dofollow attracts visitor and spammer. But if we use captcha and/or moderate comment also use akismet I think this can make the blog safe.

All it takes is a minute to post a quality comment so anyone can do this, especially those who are eager to have some organic traffic directed to their site. Automated comments are right to be deleted since they contribute nothing to the discussions in the blog.

Unfortunately, not a lot of commenters see it that way. You just have to keep weeding them out and keep the good ones.

If you really want to give some link love to your visitors than use dofollow, but don`t tell it to anybody.

Submitting blog to dofollow directories and lists is mistake, because great part of spammers comes exactly from those places.

    Mike,

Like quite a few of your commenters I’m also new to the do follow movement & have just installed the necessary plugins to my blog. I must admit I’m a bit wary after hearing about the growing trend towards returning to no follow, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed it can still be a win/win situation. I’m definitely going to moderate first & may be quite ruthless with the delete button.

I don’t normally like rules, but I do like the fact that you are clear about what you expect from commenters. I hope you can keep your blog do follow, but I do understand why people go back.

Now to quote some of my favorite spam,
“Dynamic informations I shall now visit this blog every day”;-)

Ok, not every day, but I’ve learned something & I will be back.

    Many Thanks,

    Lucy

Again it seems that spammers have ruined a good thing. Dofollow encourages more people to comment, increases reader participation, increases traffic, but in a way it also increases the amount of spam. It seems you can’t have one without the other =/

Still, at least we know that spammers comments will be deleted anyway, so they’re just wasting their time =)

  94. e-marketing on August 18th, 2009 2:22 pm

  95. Mature Cougar on August 19th, 2009 7:36 pm

From my experience, if you leave in the most minor of exploits on your site, someone is going to take advantage of it. Its in the nature of the internet.

Leave your blog do follow and accept that people will use it to boost their sites. If you hate that very notion, they kill it all by making your blog no follow.

    Thats all I can say

  96. Hospedagem on August 20th, 2009 7:14 pm

Remain do follow dude. Just put a spam blocker. Or you can always do confirmation before it will be seen.

  98. alex from Cheap Pennsylvania Insurance on August 21st, 2009 1:17 pm

You can always use recaptcha (as far as i know it’s the best one) but you should check with dofollow thing i think. You have a nice blog – people are searching for dofollow through google – and i’m sure there are a lot of visitors here from google searches

  99. UstillUp on August 21st, 2009 7:17 pm

Won’t moderating all the comments add a lot of extra work? I also agree with those that suggest using captcha to prevent spam bots. Nevertheless, it’s about time that webmasters focus their time and effort elsewhere. One good link from a relevant high PR site is worth more than 1,000 comments on greybarred comments pages. What a terrible waste of time and effort.

  100. freelance copywriter on August 22nd, 2009 1:02 am

i know what you’re saying it can get very annoying having to delete lots of spammy comments from people who take advantage of the dofollow blogs. But at the same time, if all blogs went down the route of nofollow then it leaves fewer options for those who perhaps don’t have the budget to pay these SEO companies lots of money for link building.

At that time I removed the “no-follow” tag from comments on this blog as a way of saying a small thank-you to reader who took the time to comment. Feedback is always welcome and appreciated.

While this has lead to a little comment spam, the majority of comments are on topic and relevant. So I have been prepared to remain with status quo.

In keeping with the principles of the DoFollow movement I like to keep up with what other blogs are writing in the home business niche and make a contribution if appropriate.

There are over 200 blogs to cover, so just loading them into an RSS reader isn’t that useful.

What I eventually did was create a Google Custom Search Engine which allows me to quickly search all the DoFollow blogs by keyword. This very quickly throws up posts relevant to a topic of interest and displays them in order of importance.

  114. Beale from outdoor living furniture on September 4th, 2009 4:35 pm

Interesting reading. There are so many blogs that have gone nofollow. I personally believe that is due more to the blogging software upgraded “default nofollow” status.

But those of us that are in the know, understand the advantages of going back to dofollow. Yes, drive by commenters are a pain, especially when most of them don’t really speak the native language of the blog… (those are funny). I installed TanTan Noodles and it took care of 100% of the bots, but I still have the single sentence “nisce post” comments that I delete.

What REALLY is annoying are those that say they are “do follow”, but are actually “nofollow” (they hide their code). Maybe a list of those should be started?

    Thanks!

    Hey Mike,

Amazon’s Mechanical Turks is a pretty good way to build a lot of comments by posting a job like that. At .50 cents to $1 per completed comment (and you can set the parameters to get paid) you’ll get takers. You can also set the quality score you’ll accept to get the better people who’ve completed jobs in the past.
Since they contact you first, you could assign a certain relevant blog to each person to comment on. Of course with the record unemployment it might be easy to find someone on Craigslist who can do a good job as well.

I always have one question in my head regarding dofollow blogs. Does it really help in increasing PR? Most bloggers use dofollow because they want to generate more traffic (by giving free backlink for those who comment), but if a page has too many outbound links, doesn’t it in fact decrease the PR?

For example, I wouldn’t want to give my two cents because I’m working hard at my linking but I do appreciate something nice that comes along, including your post and who knows, maybe this way you’re reaching out to more people who wouldn’t regularly come across this.

Its almost expected you are going to get some crap eventually.. you should just delete those people, or computers. They get there do-follow link and you get the nice comment and trafficking, BUT of course those people have to ruin it for the rest of us.

Wow I literally just posted a comment on how people never read posts because they are all too interested in getting the backlink from do-follow blogs.
Its quite a shame because people and spammers like that ruin it for everyone else. One blog I knew of that was do-follow switched to no-follow because of the spamming issue. It was very sad for the rest of us that liked to write relevant info and still get the backlink. I just don’t understand why people cant EVEN SCAN the post and write something useful. It doesn’t take any time at all and by writing relevant comments its most likely you’ll get your do-follow backlink. But no. People that write crap, “you’re so great, love the post” that have to ruin it for EVERYONE.

Spammers are major concern for any blog post. They want backlink rather than giving any constructive idea. But you can implement captcha to stop automatic submission.
You know the more better way to stop it.

  168. Web Marketing Services on November 28th, 2009 12:37 am

Spammers should be treated as they deserve.
But dont switch to nofollow. If webmasters like you close the dofollow blogs then blog comment would lost its importance from SEO point of view.

Dofollow Link building is a right way to increase the web page quality. But sometime we use blackhat tech.for increase our website quality but after that ourwebsite quality is going to down.

I think Do Follow is ok. I notice that you use CAPTCHA to filter comments, that’s great!.
Perhaps you need to moderate and read the comments carefully before you approve it.
    Nice blog anyway :)

  172. Roy from Hostgator Coupon Codes on December 4th, 2009 9:27 am

I agree that there are some great plugins to stop the completely spammy comments. Do you require people commenting to have at least one approved comment before they automatically appear on the blog? That tends to make it easier to decide who to approve and who not to approve.

I know this post is quite old, but I personally think that it can encourage more discussion if you give back to the readers with a dofollow link (obviously only if they are legit).

I use dofollow on my “proper” blogs and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Of course, if it got to the point where I was being spammed regularly, I might change my mind…

  173. Free VOIP Phone Calls on December 5th, 2009 8:47 am

please remain dofollow. Your blog is one of the most wonderful places to visit.

Being a do follow would help you generate that traffic. And even if there are quite spammers who would try to leave remarks that are not relevant to your topic,it’s just a part of being a do follow. In order to gain, one has to make simple sacrifices. Although, it’s up to you if you remain or not. But I suggest taking hold onto it. It might help you soon as you’re helping us now. Thanks.

  176. Darren from Call Center Services Outsourcing on December 7th, 2009 7:43 pm

You should probably just tell people that their comment will be deleted if it doesn’t contribute to the discussion. And what constitutes a good or bad comment is completely up to your fancy.

  177. batteries on December 7th, 2009 11:13 pm

    Great!
I didn’t realize the comments could have been made dofollow and no follow. Well, I’ve also made all my comments as dofollow as per the guideline provided here. Thank you!

I know its hard being a do follow. It would require you more effort than being a no follow. But being a do follow not only help you as well as others. If you’re considering the benefits you’re getting by remaining a do follow, then you’re likely to be getting the most of it. Other than that, you’ll only have to bear with the spam like we all do. Thanks.

  180. Online Courses on December 13th, 2009 11:15 pm

It is quite tiring to moderate but this is the least you could do to keep your blog attracting traffic. Actually comments keep your blog and posts alive. Do you think if you will shift to no-follow people will still visit your blog and read your posts? Most probably some will still follow your posts to read on quality articles but definitely it will decrease. thanks…

I have some spammers but well, they didn’t get pass akismet. And my business site has recently improve in SERP after I change to dofollow. Wonder why.

  186. bankowned on December 31st, 2009 4:06 am

I must admit I’m a bit wary after hearing about the growing trend towards returning to no follow, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed it can still be a win/win situation. I’m definitely going to moderate first & may be quite ruthless with the delete button.

  188. from from meta scrubs on January 6th, 2010 9:21 am

The best way to avoid being labeled as a spammer is to do a little research on the blog on which you are about to comment. Look at articles with comments, and see if there are comments where the author uses keywords as their name, or if all of the comment authors are using real names. If the site has a comment policy, be sure to take a read through it as well. Some DoFollow sites have an added bonus of Keyword Luv – this is where you can enter Your Name @ Your Keywords, and they will use everything after the @ sign as the anchor text for your website.

  189. Just from body cleanses on January 6th, 2010 9:23 am

Another way to avoid looking like a spammer is by taking time to comment on a site. Instead of posting many comments all at once on several posts, try only two or three, then bookmarking the site to return to later. On a similar note, do not use the same blog for multiple websites – most blogging platforms show the IP address of the commentator, so if you post three comments around the same time with different author names and links, chances are the blog owner will notice.

  190. Dave Keys from Orange County SEO on January 7th, 2010 10:28 pm

I moderate all comments on my blogs. If it doesn’t read well, ie. on-topic it never sees the light of day. Even most of the back-links on the comments on this post are nearly useless because the keywords are so general or misguided. Does no one perform research on these first?

  191. Dave Keys from Orange County SEO on January 7th, 2010 10:34 pm

One more point: the spam-bots seem not to care any more about nofollow status. They seem to traverse and populate blogs wholesale. Some of them are malformed gibberish with links to non-existing domains with random generated letters as the anchor text. I think the strategy is if you spam 100,000 blogs a day, you’re bound to get a few hot ones. I’d prefer a moderated approach that lets the owner choose the “best of” comments and the others would auto-delete after a chosen number of days. End of maintenance time wasting.

  192. folder printing on January 11th, 2010 3:52 pm

yeah, I’ve been seeing a number of people looking to hire someone to do their dofollow blog commenting. my suggestion to you is to use spam blocker hope that will work for you…!

  193. Angie from Coat Tree Stand on January 16th, 2010 9:54 am

Great blog post on the CommentLuv plug-in and how it can be abused. Link building is definitely a huge part of building up your blog online, and I’m personally of the opinion that Google tends to show a little bit more favor to blogs that have comments and conversations going on. So I still do it.

  194. Robot Forex on January 20th, 2010 6:57 am

You’re right, always I was thinking that it is not fair that people take advantage of the dofollow blogs, because anyone enter in the blogs and puts some stupid thing and then he win a backlink.

We need always to publish something of value as you say, because is not fair that some people come to our blogs and say things like “thanks, good post” and as a writer we need that the people says something with value, that make some question or at least that the message have life.

  195. Blue ray on January 21st, 2010 8:57 pm

I also agree that people should not give links without discussing on the topic or without giving any valuable suggestion. They must participate or discuss on the topic. Giving fake comments just to stay in the comments for link is not fare. I must say that blog owners must delete those comments.

  196. Online printing on January 26th, 2010 7:46 am

I like to spread my link in different blogs but before doing this i read all the post and most of the comment then I comment on the post. In this way I participate in post as well I get a back link.

  197. Jeremy from Flash Drive File Recovery on January 28th, 2010 1:29 pm

I think many blogs are debating this. On the one hand you get many more visitors and discussion on your site with do follow but you also get an increased amount of spamming as well.

  198. CRM for small business on January 31st, 2010 10:41 pm

Its great to get do follow links but Google is smart enough to know whether we are over optimizing the site. Its better to get links from follow, no follow, anchored texts, brand name…. every link matters what Google loves is diverse links.
