I recently obtained a number one listing in Google, and a Wordpress plugin helped me obtain that number one position.

A few days ago, one of my visitors who left a comment let me know that I had the number one spot in Google for “this site uses keywordluv”.

Now, that is not exactly a competitive keyword that many people are going to be searching for. But, having the number one position for that keyword phrase brought me a number of visitors.

People looking for that phrase are either looking for the keywordluv plugin, or they are looking for blogs that are using that plugin.

Since keywordluv is a dofollow blog plugin, I’m sure people were searching on that term to find dofollow blogs.

So, I wrote this keywordluv related blog post.

If you go to that post, you will notice the title contains the keywords “this site uses keywordluv”, and if you read through the post, you will see the same phrase mentioned a couple of times.

Have you asked yourself what would ever make me think to write and optimize a post containing such a strange keyword phrase?

Well, I never would have thought of it myself. It’s all due to the Wordpress “Psychic Search” plugin.

The Psychic Search plugin tracks keyword phrases that people searched on to get to your blog.

I noticed people got to my blog by searching on the keywordluv phrase. I don’t know where my blog was rated in Google for that phrase, when I noticed that phrase in my Psychic Search logs.

But, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t number one in Google since this blog had not been a keywordluv blog for very long.

So, I created a blog post, and optimized it, to give the search engines the phrase they were already finding me for. And, a few weeks later (maybe less) I found myself in the number one position for that phrase.

Once you know what visitors are searching for to find your blog, you can optimize on the terms they are using to search – when appropriate. Not all search terms will relate to your blog.

I have seen some strange search terms that lead to visitors coming to my blog. But, many search terms are related to my blog content and I will write posts related to those search phrases.

Psychic Search is a free plugin, you only have to give an email address to activate it.

So, go get your Psychic Search plugin today and find out what search terms are leading visitors to your blog.

Mike

I think it’s an awesome plugin to include. :)

It’s a great plugin!! And don’t sell yourself short…thats not a bad long tail phrase to rank on.

  3. peter from Peter Answers on August 7th, 2008 3:54 pm

That is a great phrase to rank for! I think more and more people will search for it, and most of those people will leave comments. Good job! I like the idea of seeing what people are searching for and then writing a targetted post, that’s a great idea!

  4. Chelle from Best of Stupid on August 7th, 2008 4:43 pm

Since I installed it on my blogs I’m showing up for keyword love too – and surprisingly (and thankfully!) not too many spammers from it.

I will have to check out this plug-in, mostly now I rely on my search engine phrases from gostats & google analytics – seo title tag is another good one to have if you don’t already have it.

Feel free to drop by any of my sites sometime for a little keyword luv too :)

You just can’t beat the good old Word Press plug-ins. I too have used them to get Google no 1 spots. My biggest problem though is finding enough hours in the day to give my blogs the time they need and deserve. Great blog by the way.

great story. i consider this to be the intuitive adjustments that a lot of people miss out on when trying to build their content. a blog and company i just started has started popping up with some fairly unique slightly less competitive seo terms. so when i saw this, i had the same thoughts as you. i have a series of blog posts coming out focused on these terms and some value add content as well as a new page on our main site that will focus on the same.

sometimes you have to let your audience determine your content rather than thinking you know everything. great insights.

    nteresting conversations in here!
Comments are a wonderful thing to receive on your blog, adding the dofollow plugin is one way to reward but why not place a link to their last post under their comment, with CommentLuv, you can do that automatically! This is an excellent way to promote comments from your readers.

  10. Jason from Atlanta SEO on August 22nd, 2008 9:37 am

hay…a number one listing is a number one listing. Since you have that number one ranking for keywordLuv, you could possible do some affiliate marketing for SEO minded people. Maybe a blog commenting software like Fast Blog Finder. You can find a little post about it on my site.

  11. Olivier from brainwave meditation on August 23rd, 2008 8:57 am

Excellent strategy! I guess it brought you many visitors (like myself :-) ) that were looking for that phrase.
I also use it on my blog and it also increased the number of comments I got dramatically. Soon everybody will want to enable it :-)

i’m glad to hear that your traffic’s increasing because of your keyword luv plugin. :) to be honest, i’m one of those people who arrived here because of that search done in google. i hope you receive more visitors, and more non-spammy comments over the coming days and weeks, as it feels just right that you should be rewarded for being kind to those who do comment on your posts.

  13. Dave from BBQ recipes on September 19th, 2008 8:26 am

I agree I’ve had more comments on my blogs that are searching for keyword luv. It actually means more people are reading the blog which has to be a good thing.

Sounds like a good plugin, but can’t you just use Analytics for the same thing?

I just started using the KeywordLuv plugin on my site, along with Do Follow. There seems to be some controversy in the comments as to whether Google penalizes you for the use of Do Follow. Any insight there?

Also, thanks for the info on Psychic Search plugin.

  29. amy from datingservices on May 30th, 2009 11:56 pm

That is a great idea. If people already go to your site for the terms why not make pages that cater to them. More traffic more post should mean you make more money.

  30. Talia P on June 23rd, 2009 6:03 am

That’s brilliant! I am so getting the plugin, what a great idea. I was using something else to do the same thing, but it only would show me like 10 and I would have to pay for the rest. That sucked :)

so am i im starting to understand this plugin stuff and it’s good i dont have to pay.

That is a great phrase to rank for! I think more and more people will search for it, and most of those people will leave comments. Good job! I like the idea of seeing what people are searching for and then writing a targetted post, that’s a great idea!

  33. Faiz from Make Money Online on May 21st, 2010 6:41 pm

i came to your site using that search phrase. it is good to rank first for that position because as more and more people will find out about this plugin they will search it online and you will inturn get more traffic

  34. Udegbunam Chukwudi from Make Money Online on June 1st, 2010 1:58 am

Funny, when I first launched my blog, that keywordword phrase was responsible for quite an amount of spam on my blog, thus I had it removed as I wasn’t interested in visitors of that kind.

  35. Walter from water tanks on June 6th, 2010 7:53 pm

Many considered keyword as their way to success when it comes to online business. I believe it’s true cause it would be easier for search engines to recognize your site if you will help them using keywords.

  36. Walter on June 6th, 2010 7:56 pm

Keyword is very useful with every site’s success. Since most search engines really love keywords which can help them in determining/monitoring your site easily.

  37. stacie from gchq recruitment on July 1st, 2010 8:38 am

I guess the more you and others post on your blog, the more likely it will be that you get found for certain keywords. Keywords are key now for people trying to market their site through SEO and other forms of marketing so it’s important to know what people are searching for.

  38. Signs Melbourne on July 6th, 2010 12:14 am

I love keywordluv. In fact that’s how I got here – searching for it!

  39. James from Computer Repair Franchise on July 13th, 2010 8:05 am

I have been wondering if I should use WordPress to set up my blog and business site. I have considered using other platforms but I keep seeing so many good things said about WordPress I think that’s probably the way to go. Number one in Google is the aim!

  40. lisa from fashion dresses on July 14th, 2010 10:35 pm

I will go and get this Psychic Search plugin. For me, it is important to find out what search terms are leading visitors to my blog. Right now, I do not use keywordluv on my blog, but I do use do-follow.

  41. Internet Marketing Services on July 25th, 2010 10:58 pm

I agree..but still somewhere i consider the old wordpress plugins are still better…but then at the same time you have to be ready to accept the new changes

  42. Paul J from Online Dating Services .org on July 30th, 2010 5:02 am

I like that keywordluv plugin – great idea. It would be nice if the creators would extend its use to ther blogging platforms – I use drupal on one of my sites, and can’t find a version for Drupal unfortunately.

Not so crazy about that Psychic search plugin though – the video on their site (the link you posted) was very “fluffy” and hardly explained anything about what it did. Surely a good statistics program like wzstats or webalizer, with search referral data can give you the info you need about what visitors are searching for when they come to your site?

It’s great to see this blog doesn’t have that horrible nofollow attribute by the way – I think a lot of blogs are missing out on good comments by using nofollow. Many times I’ve been on a blog and been about to place what I hope would be a useful comment but I’ve stopped when seeing it’s nofollow. Amongst other things, to me, nofollow just feels rude to visitors.

    Interestingly, you’re still
number 2 curently (searching from here in England) for the phrase “this site uses keywordluv” without quotes. That’s good going – only one position down after just about a year since your post, which would appear to show some nice stability in your ranking.

This site uses KeywordLuv. Enter YourName@YourKeywords in the Name field to take advantage.

For example, if I wanted to use the keywords "Do Follow Blog List" as my link text for my Website above, I would use mike@Do Follow Blog List
